About Durga Puja 2026: A Bengali Homecoming in DFW

Every autumn, the Bengali community of Dallas-Fort Worth comes together to celebrate Durga Puja, the five days at the heart of the Bengali calendar. This year DFW Kalakars invites you to join us October 16-18, 2026 for three days of traditional puja rituals, live music, dance, cultural performances, and Bengali food, shared with family, friends, and neighbors from across DFW.

Durga Puja 2026 is more than a religious observance, it's a homecoming. Whether you've celebrated Pujo in Kolkata, have joined DFW Kalakars since our first Durga Puja in 2022, or are coming for the very first time, you'll find a warm, welcoming space built around community, culture, and connection.

DFW Kalakars has organized Durga Puja and other Bengali cultural celebrations across DFW since 2022, on the belief that "Anybody Can Perform." This is our 5th Durgotsava, and it continues that tradition: a family-friendly event rooted in authentic Bengali culture, open to everyone in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Traditional Bengali Durga Puja

Durga Puja is the largest and most significant festival in the Bengali cultural calendar, honoring Goddess Durga's victory of good over evil. At DFW Kalakars' Durga Puja 2026, you'll experience the traditions that make Pujo unmistakably Bengali: the beat of the dhak, the fragrance of dhuno and incense, pushpanjali, and rituals passed down through generations of Bengali families.

Across all three days, you can take part in traditional puja ceremonies alongside the Bengali community of Dallas-Fort Worth, in an atmosphere that brings the spirit of Kolkata's pandals to Dallas, Texas. Expect dhak beats and conch shells, pushpanjali and anjali offerings, traditional aarti, and community prasad. Exact ritual timing for each day (Saptami, Ashtami, Navami) will be posted closer to the event.

Live Artists & Cultural Performances

No Durga Puja is complete without music, dance, and performance. DFW Kalakars Durga Puja 2026 features three nights of live Bengali cultural programs: Akriti Kakar & Band on Friday, Oct 16; Shuchismita Chakraborty & Band on Saturday, Oct 17; and Subhadeep Das (Voice of Dhurandhar) & Band on Sunday, Oct 18. True to DFW Kalakars' spirit of "Anybody Can Perform," our stage also welcomes performers of all ages and skill levels from within our own community, alongside these featured live acts. Authentic Bengali Food

A Durga Puja celebration isn't complete without Bengali food, and Durga Puja 2026 will offer authentic Bengali cuisine throughout the event, bringing the tastes of Kolkata to Dallas. Come hungry: sharing a plate of Bengali food together is one of the most cherished parts of Pujo for our community. Menu, food vendors, and bhog details will be announced closer to the event.

Durga Puja 2026 is built as a family celebration, welcoming grandparents, parents, and children alike. From dhunuchi naach to cultural performances and community mingling, there's something for every generation across all three days.
